GetInData Data Science Summit 2017
We had a great pleasure to give two presentations at the first edition of Data Science Summit 2017 which took place in Warsaw on May 26th. The event was organized by Data Science Warsaw meetup, Academic Partners Foundations and Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science of Warsaw University of Technology and was attended by more than a thousand participants.
Truecaller: towards a data-driven company
Marek Wiewiorka and Tomasz Zukowski described how Truecaller, one of most popular startup in Sweden, became a truly data-driven company. Truecaller creates a mobile application for phone number identification and also enable people to block unwanted calls. This application is currently used by +250M users who generate 3TB of compressed data each day. Since 2014, our company (GetInData) has been helping Truecaller to build and use an analytics platform based on open-source components like Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, Kylin, AirFlow. During their talk, Marek and Tomek explained the evolution of data architecture at Trucaller and a number of examples how data is used a Truecaller to answer business questions and power product features.
